Shunt

We just wanted to update everyone on what we found out today. Trinity had her cat scan at 2:30 this afternoon. From the results of that she is showing severe hydrocephalus on the back part of her head mostly on the left side. She had enlarged ventricles when she was born, but since closing up the lesion this has caused the ventricles to get larger and shows more fluid on the brain. We knew this could happen, but we were hoping to be the 10% that it didn't happen to. She will have her surgery tomorrow at 10:30 am. The surgery takes about 1-2 hours. They will put the shunt towards the back of her head on the left side and it will run down her neck into her abdomen. The fluid will then absorb into the tissues. The main concerns with a shunt is failure and infection. We pray that the surgery is a success and not painful for Trinity. When we feel like we are just starting to get over the hump another one stands in our way. We are glad that they found this and are going to take care of it right away so we don't have to worry about it in the future. We will be sure to update tomorrow night with how things went and maybe some pictures. Thank you for your prayers and please lift our precious Trinity and the surgeon up in prayers as she goes into surgery tomorrow.

Hey! I've been anxiously awaiting your update today, hoping for good news on the scans. But at least they caught it now, while you're already in the hospital and you can just get it taken care of. I love the new pics! Miranda, you look so comfy lying there with Trinity on your chest - glad you got some good bonding time with her! We'll be praying for you tomorrow as I'm sure it will be difficult sending her back to surgery. Also praying for the surgeons/medical team taking care of her! Hope all goes well! Love you guys and can't wait to hold that little girl!
Love,

Miranda, Shannon, Aubrey and Trinity, I wish so bad I could be there close to you so I could hug you all. I am so proud of the parent you both have become. Miranda, I never dreamed when you were a little girl that some day you would be going through these trying times but I also never dreamed you would be the Christian woman you have become either. I am so proud of you and your faith in God. He gave you Trinity because he knew how very special your family is and how much you would love and care for her. He was correct in his assumption! I am so proud of you and Shannon in keeping this in Gods hands, it is very hard to do that, I know. But he will see you through. "And this too shall pass" Walking by faith and not sight is a very hard thing to do. I keep remembering whenever your mom would leave you when you were little and you would just scream and cry. (I wanted to pop you one!) So its only fitting that you have your mommy there to hold you when you cry and Trinity has her mommy there to hold her when she cries. I love you so very much. Aunt Shelly
